STOA

If your software is deciding what your business can do, this page is for you.

Owner-led, with real operations. One main system everything depends on, or a few that don't talk to each other. Either way, the gap gets filled by hand.

It is not your fault

The trap is in the vendors' own terms.

You may have been told you picked the wrong software. You didn't. Here is what the vendors publish about themselves.

  • Pet care platforms

Pet care platforms give you no way to get your data out.

Gingr, Pawfinity and Kennel Connection publish no developer documentation. The only data movement they document is importing data in.

  • ServiceTitan

ServiceTitan can revoke your access at any time.

Its terms reserve the right to revoke API credentials for any reason, with no obligation to give notice. Production access is a paid add-on, and contracts run twelve months.

  • Housecall Pro

Housecall Pro puts it behind its top plan.

API access is only on MAX, at $299 a month billed annually, or $329 monthly, for up to 8 users. Its own help centre says it does not support custom integrations.

  • Service Fusion

Service Fusion ships its Open API only on its top tier,

at about $533 a month. On the entry plan there is no access at all.

  • FieldEdge

FieldEdge keeps its API behind partner sign-in and approval.

There is no self-serve path for a small business.

  • QuickBooks Desktop

QuickBooks Desktop has no modern API.

Third-party connections break once a version passes its support date. All 2023 editions ended support on 31 May 2026. 2024 Pro and Premier end on 30 September 2027.

Five-star rating

You can like your software and still be stuck.

Some of the sharpest complaints about these platforms come from owners who gave them five stars. They are not trying to leave. They want one thing it will never build. The report it can't run. The list it won't let you email. The step your staff do by hand every day.

That one thing is what we build.

Who this is not for

We would rather tell you now than after a call.

Four situations where a build is not the right answer. If one fits, you just saved yourself a call.

These apply to builds. Fractional CTO is open to any business.

  • You have no physical operations.

If all the work happens on screens, the trap we solve does not exist for you. Coaching or Fractional CTO may fit better.

  • Your software already does everything you need.

No manual step to automate, no tool you wish you had, no report you can't get. Then nothing here is urgent. Come back when it is.

  • Nobody owns the decision.

If no one person can say yes, the build will stall. We would rather not start it.

  • You are shopping on price.

Our price is fixed and published. If the number is the whole conversation, we are not the right fit.

The two questions

Two questions tell us if this is for you.

  1. Question 01

What one piece of software would break your business if it went down tomorrow?

  2. Question 02

What have you asked it to do that it can't?

Your answer to the second one is what we build first.

Can you answer both? Book the 45-minute brainstorm. Not yet? Book a 15-minute chat, and we will work out together whether there is anything here for you.

Next step

Bring the problem and we will build the solution.
